BioSome are born evil. Others have evil thrust upon them.
Marik Ishtar falls into the latter group. Having been raised underground by a father who refused to show him even the slightest hint of affection, he has suffered his entire life under the apathetic veil of neglect. Since his childhood, he has grown into a beautiful, enigmatic villain with an entourage of henchmen - all named Steve. This is because Marik's mystical artifact - the Millennium Rod - is only able to take control of people who happen to have been given that name.
Since he is the Abridged version of the original "Malik", there are several key differences between him and his progenitor. For example, he is unable to use the word f__k without it being censored and replaced with a loud EFF noise. On occasion, he has been known to overcome his censorship, but only through intense emotion or magical wang, or simply forgetfulness on the part of LittleKuriboh, his voice artist.
Marik is the head of the Evil Council Of Doom (tm), which meets every few months to attempt to conquer Yugi Moto or the Pharaoh - they're both fairly interchangeable. So far they haven't had much luck, and most of the members seem to be doing their own thing now. Still, Marik likes to think he'll achieve true evilness one day. And then they'll all be sorry.
He also likes pain. Lots and lots of pain.
